Disputes

The bundle, the discovery, the pleading.

Prepare the hearing bundle from the file, read what the other side produced, and draft from those papers. A date that is not in the file is not added.

Through a case.

01

The case bundle

Prepare the hearing bundle from the file: the index, the page numbers, the court’s headers, links between documents, and text that can be searched.

When a document is added, removed, or replaced, the bundle is updated, including the page numbers. You still decide what goes in.

02

Discovery

The other side’s production is read against the requests that were made.

Facts that help, facts that hurt, and documents that were requested but not produced are identified. Each fact is linked to the document it came from. Inconsistencies between documents are flagged.

03

Chronology

The chronology is built from the documents and emails on the file.

Every dated event is extracted, including those that are easy to miss on a first reading. Each event is linked to its source document.

04

The pleading

The statement of claim, or the defence, is drafted in the firm’s form from the documents on the file.

It follows the court’s requirements and the firm’s practice. The key facts, evidence and proof are organised into a logical and persuasive case, with the arguments set out clearly.

05

Witness statement

The witness statement is drafted from the chronology and the documents on the file.

It follows the structure and language the firm’s witnesses usually use. The relevant events, documents and facts are set out in sequence, with the source of each point identified. The draft is organised so the evidence is clear and ready for the lawyer to review and settle.

On this work, the same rules.

Private and Local

It can run inside the firm, with no connection out. We never see the files, and a model provider never does. There is no outside copy to keep or to train on.

Only who needs it

Access is limited by person, by matter, and by practice. The admin sets each role. Every action is logged, and can be traced.

Your way of working

It follows your past matters, your wording, and your playbook. A review looks for what your team already treats as important.

Edits you can see

The change is made in the file you already have. Layout and numbering stay. You get track changes, and each answer points to its source.

Ready on day one

Jurisdiction-specific material is already there, from legislation, government, and regulators. So are skills for this kind of work.

Questions

What if a date in the chronology is wrong?
Every event links back to the document it came from. A date that is not in the papers is not added. The lawyer still decides what is in the chronology.
Does Makebell train on our case files?
No. The system runs on the firm’s machines. Makebell cannot see the documents, and the model provider cannot see them. There is no data to train on.
Who has access to a case’s files?
Only the people the firm gives access to. Documents are separated by person, by matter, and by practice. The firm’s administrator sets the rights. Every action is written to an audit log. Makebell cannot open the files.
What does the bundle tool do?
It prepares the hearing bundle from the file: the index, the pagination, the court headers, the cross-references, and the text made searchable. When a document is added, removed, or replaced, the whole bundle is updated, including the page numbers and the cross-references. You do not renumber it by hand. The lawyer decides the contents. It does not decide the case.
What if we do not have the hardware?
What you need depends on the size of the team and on how the system will be used. Talk to us. We will assess that and recommend what to buy, or what to lease.
